Piante disinquinanti

Alcune piante dette 'iperaccumulatrici' sono capaci di assorbire e accumulare nei propri tessuti quantità di metalli pesanti da decine a migliaia di volte superiori a quelle tollerate da altri organismi. Queste piante possono essere impiegate in prossimità dei campi agricoli o di bacini contaminati per assorbire gli inquinanti e i fitofarmaci in eccesso. Ne parliamo con Angelo Massacci, direttore dell'Istituto di biologia agro-ambientale e forestale (Ibaf) del CNR.
