Paul Griffin

Today we will be talking with Paul Griffin, the author of the utterly amazing "When Friendship Followed Me Home." The book on one level can be considered a great boy and his dog story. But it is so much more. The book touches on the foster care system, bullying and childhood cancer, but it also focuses on the resilience of kids, the utter delight of friendship, the sense of wonder that the world holds and the basic goodness that I think is in all of us. It also has a great sci-fi story in it. A great magic story too. And, of course there's that boy and his dog thing - what else could anyone want? The author, Paul Griffin, has taken quite a personal journey that culminated in writing "When Friendship Followed Me Home." He is, of course a writer with a stable of well-reviewed and award winning books including "Burning Blue" and "Adrift." But he has also been a dockworker, a dishwasher, a dog walker and a teacher. His work has been described as finding beauty and value where most of us would find ugliness. And, man, "When Friendship Followed Me Home," certainly does that.
