Today we are going to be talking with James Kennedy. James is the founder of the "90 Second Newbery Film Festival" -- a contest that brings some of the best young filmmakers in the country together to showcase their take on books that have won the Newbery Award or the Newbery honor book. Each film is 90 seconds, hence the name, and everything from Claymation, to black and white films, to special effects have been used to tell the stories that have filled up library collections around the country. James, the author of "The Order of the Odd Fish" makes the Festival extremely special if you go see it. Besides the screenings, James has a show prepared for the audience. It is silly, musical, fun and most of all incredibly in tune with the films the festival is showing. The best way to describe it is like an old-time vaudeville show. When I have gone down to Austin, TX to the Texas Library Association Convention there is this superb show called "Ester's Follies" that has been playing for 40 seasons and I would have no problem putting James's skits and songs on par with that.
