You bend over, tie up your shoe, or maybe pick up your child or grandchild. Something pops (or not), and you cannot stand back up. The pain can be excruciating. It can be sharp, burning, numbing, travel down your leg or produce that horrible 'weakness' feeling. You've just tweaked your back. But, do you know what to do about it? The most common thinking pattern is "I've got to stretch it away." But this might not be the best idea. In some circumstances, it's a terrible idea that could cause more harm than help.
