What is EMS WK 2017: Ketamine Myths and Facts about?

This is another edition of EMSCEP Radio, from our on-location coverage of the Fairfax Fire Rescue EMS Week Training Symposium, during EMS Week. In this episode, we talk with Chris Bartus, a Flight Paramedic with Medstar Transport. Chris is one of those Medics who "gets" Ketamine... or more accurately understands giving Ketamine. He's going to talk to us about the myths and facts of Ketamine. John Christopher "Chris" Bartus BSc. FP-C CCP-C NRP Flight Paramedic, MedSTAR Transport Chris started in EMS in 1995. He's been a paramedic since 2001 and a flight paramedic with MedSTAR Transport since 2005. He's currently based at MedSTAR 2. Since 2002 he has been, at various times, a regional educator or adjunct faculty member for Northern Virginia Community College, INOVA, and Medstar Sitel as well as nationally for the Difficult Airway Course-EMS. He began working with the Georgetown University/Medstar Washington Hospital Center Emergency Medicine Residency as adjunct faculty in 2009. He has been the coordinator for the EM Resident EMS flight rotations since 2012. He will talk about airway management until told firmly to stop (and often for about ten minutes after that) and has been willing to come talk about airway management in people's kitchens if they want.
