Carla is an American artist and Assistant Chair of Digital Arts at Pratt Institute. She identifies as a visual storyteller and with the use of 21st Century representational technologies she narrates through a "digital looking glass" where reflections on power, sexuality, marginalization, and agency emerge. She is fascinated by digital semiotics and the situation of identity in the blurring contexts of real and virtual. Her work have appeared in ARTnews , The Creators Project , The Huffington Post , Wired , Buzzfeed , FastCo, Hyperallergic , Art F City , Art Critical , Art Report, The Wallstreet Journal , The New York Times and The LA Times , among others. " AR mixed reality has more potential, I think. With virtual reality, you're just somewhere else altogether, right? And VR is all the rage right now. But in terms of disseminating information, in terms of keeping us in touch still with physical, you know. I mean, it's all real life now. I don't even distinguish IRL / URL now. I mean it's all real life. But like, how do we maintain a foot in both simultaneously?
