There's a huge push for Nurse Practitioners nationwide to practice independently. However, not all NP's are created equally or have the same education, training and experience. In this episode of N&H special guest John Canion joins us to discuss his paper " 2023 Report on Nurse Practitioner Education and the Need for Change." We'll also talk about the DNP role, the role of the Emergency Room NP and so much more. John Canion is a Nurse Practitioner who is board certified as a family nurse practitioner and an emergency nurse practitioner. He has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2005 and has filled many roles as a nurse practitioner including: urgent care, family practice, critical access, hospitalist, associate professor, emergency medicine, has sat on the American Association of Nurse Practitioners education committees, and has started grass roots efforts to affect change in nurse practitioner education.
