He then suffered serious and tragic losses in quick succession that spiraled him down a path of self-destruction with an escalation into the use of heroin. Beating the odds, Adam finds the support and motivation he needs to manage his drug addiction. He finds ways to replace his addiction to drugs with a lifestyle that involves being out in nature, skiing, and finding someone to love. He gets significantly uncomfortable to regain health, and find happiness again, when the doctors were convinced that Adam was a hopeless case.
