Who mothers us moms? Is it our partner? Our own mother who lives out-of-state? What does it even mean to ‘Mother the Mother’? In this week’s episode motherhood wellness expert Alyson Hempsey and women’s health expert and pelvic floor physical therapist Dr. Marcy Crouch , do a deep dive into what it means to ‘Mother the Mother’, and the answer isn’t all that simple. For many women, especially those who are estranged from their mother, who have lost their mom, or whose mother doesn't live within close proximity of them, it is really difficult or borderline impossible to have our own needs met in the same way we mother our children. Is it our responsibility? Does that add to the already long list of the invisible load we carry? Or, is it our partner’s job to mother us?
