Hello everyone! Happy Nowrouz! and I wish you a year of love, prosperity, and self-actualization. The new year is upon us and as mother nature is very fertile nowadays, fruits can be found in abundance, and you guys will be eating a lot of them. But did you know that fruits are not just for eating, and there are other things you can do with them like using them in idioms and expressions. Let’s start with good-looking bananas, top bananas more specifically. I know your minds are going wrong places right now. Stop them. the top banana is an expression which means the most important person in an organization or an event, like a boss. The second most important person is, as can be guessed, the second banana. As you can see, bananas are important. But sometimes bananas do banana things. People learn from bananas, and unfortunately they turn into bananas themselves. If you say someone is bananas, it means they’re nuts, insane, crazy, or silly. They do things that do not agree much with logic. When the weather is freezing cold, you’ve got to be bananas to want to go out. یعنی توی هوای به این سردی آدم باید خل باشه بخواد بره بیرون. But our long story with bananas doesn’t end here. Jamal has repeatedly told his mother to sop talking about him as if he is not there, but she doesn’t hear of it. Last night, in front of everyone, in his birthday party, She told a very embarrassing story of his childhood, and boy of boy, he went bananas. He got up on his feet, blushed for far too long, screamed at the highest pitch of his voice , and stormed out of the apartment. In this regard, go bananas means to get very angry, and ,well, behave accordingly. Bananas are pretty versatile. Go bananas can be used to show excitement as well. As soon as the singer walked on the stage, everybody went bananas; They began to jump up and down, shouting and screaming. That was enough to freak Jamal out. The deafening noise made Jamal walk out of the concert and talk to a cat outside. There, Jamal met Jamila. They got to talking, it got a bit too long, and they were hungry. So they went to a cafe and ate strawberry banana crepes. What a day for Jamal and way to go, bananas. Alright, let’s work with another fruit. How about apples? Jamila, doesn’t know it, and honestly, Jamal doesn’t know how to show it, but Jamila has become the apple of his eye. She is everything to him; he can’t put her out of his mind. In short, she has become the light of his eyes, as we, Iranians, like to say. Jamal’s eye sight has become weaker since Jamila has moved oh so far away. You might say that’s comparing apples and oranges, you know, comparing two things that are totally unrelated. rabting ye chizi be shaqiqe. I mean, you might say what does Jamila’s being away have anything to do with Jamal’s eyesight. But, let’s not yet jump to conclusions. Jamal is like a baby, he is a crier. I sometimes talk to him, but he’s a train-wreck of emotions right now. His constant teary eyes has debilitated his sight. At least, that’s what the doctors say. Jamal is very much like his mother; you know what they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He keeps his emotions to himself and eats himself up from inside, and his tears are his only remedy to soothe the pain. His mom is like that. She doesn’t speak a word, goes to a corner, and cries her eyes out. Jamal gets it though. He knew it was gonna be hard being far away from Jamila, but he couldn’t have imagined it was gonna be this difficult. Don’t worry about him; He is a hardened man. He’s been through worse. I just sometimes wish he could take it a bit easier from time to time, like his dad. He is as cold as a cucumber. Once, Jamal’s toe was almost amputated, but his father was changing the lightbulb in the living room and said it was gonna be okay. He wasn’t worried at all. We should all try to be a bit like Jamal’s dad, relaxed, unbothered by the ebb and flow of life, keeping it as simple as he can. Jamal has realized that there is no cherry picking in life. You can’t decide to have only the good stuff and discard the rest. Hell, no! Life is a package, you don’t pick and choose, sometimes we have to grin and bear the whole damn thing. Cherry picking is when one decides to only choose or take the best things of what is available. Like your guests cherrypicking badooms and pestes and the kishmish stays there in the bowl till the end of time. That’s right. Jamal knew it. He knew it all. It wasn’t only Him. Jamila knew that she had to wait and she hated it. She knew she had a few kilos to lose before life was peaches and cream again with her lover around her. Peaches and cream is a situation in which everything is going smoothly and well. Jamal loves this expression because it also reminds him of his beloved’s fair face, rosy cheeks, and pale white face. Let’s wish Jamal and Jamila luck on their quest of love, and self-actualization. Thank you for listening. I’ll tell you more about Jamal later. Have a fruity new year everyone.
