Prince's Death: What We Know So Far. La morte di Prince: cosa sappiamo a questo punto. E' il titolo di un servizio del network americano Abc, corredato da un servizio online che iniziava con queste parole: It's been nearly two weeks since Prince was found dead in his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota, and, since then, several story lines showing another side of the musical genius have emerged. "Sono passate quasi due settimane da quando Prince è stato trovato morto nella sua residenza di Paisley Park, in Minnesota. Da allora, sono emersi dettagli (story lines) che mostrano un lato inedito (another side) di questo genio della musica". Le due parole che ci interessano sono "so far" , che in italiano possiamo tradurre con "fino a questo punto, finora". Molto diffusa è ad esempio l'espressione "so far so good" , il cui equivalente italiano è "fin qui tutto bene". So si può comporre in molti altri modi: So on o so forth vuol dire "avanti così". We discussed everything: when to go, what to see and so on. Discutemmo di ogni cosa: quando partire, cosa visitare e così via. So much ha un tono leggermente negativo: So much for the situazion in Germany. Now we have to turn out attention to France. "Basta parlare della situazione della Germania, ora dobbiamo spostare la nostra attenzione sulla Francia". So what? Vuol dire "e allora?". He's fifteen years younger than his wife. So what? " Ha quindici anni meno di sua moglie. Embe? "So be it" è ancora diverso: If he doesn't want to be involved, so be it". Se non vuole essere coinvolto, pazienza. O forse, diremmo in italiano: se non vuole essere coinvolto, peggio per lui. Ma torniamo a Prince e vediamo qualche verso si uno dei suoi capolavori, Kiss. You don't have to be rich to be my girl / You don't have to be cool to rule my world / Ain't no particular sign / I'm more compatible with / I just want your extra time /and your . . . kiss.
