In this Season 2 episode of the Jennifer Zee Plant-based & Happy Podcast, I had the incredible opportunity to chat with not one but two amazing guests about their peacefully chic meditation studio in my hometown of Toronto, Canada. Stephanie Kersta MSc, RP and Carolyn Plater MSW, RSW are master's level clinicians in the field of mental health and health with over a decade of experience in private clinical practices, psychiatric, hospital, community and policy levels, and teaching appointments at McMaster University, Wilfrid Laurier University, Humber College, Durham College and Ontario Learn. Together they founded Hoame, North America’s largest modern meditation studio, and with Ease Inc., they utilize their expertise and knowledge in the field of neuroscience, psychology, mental health and wellness to approach mental health education, and corporate health and wellness in fresh, creative and modern ways to disrupt the status quo and create solutions that actually work. Stephanie or “Steph” is known for her sarcastic sense of humor, is a clinical therapist, certified mindfulness practitioner, and educator and researcher for a number of academic institutions. When she isn’t in a session, or talking the ears off a group of students, you can find her snuggling her rescue pup Hemingway, paddle-boarding at her cottage with her hubby, travelling as much as she can, or cooking some yummy vegan meals for her friends and family. Carolyn, Plater Or “gigs” (short for giggles because she’s always laughing) is a clinical therapist, certified yoga instructor, and educator and researcher for a number of academic institutions. When she isn’t in front of a lecture hall or with a client, you can find her in her yoga room, at the spa, or laughing over a great plant-based meal with her friends and family. Carolyn is also a wannabe voyager having visited over 30 countries and counting. In this episode Stephanie, Carolyn and I chat about: ➤ Accessible meditation for everyone. ➤ Creating a chic meditation space in Toronto, Canada. ➤ The science behind modern meditation. ➤ Reducing stress and anxiety without adverse side effects. ➤ Meditation and a healthy digestive system. ➤ The one thing that Steph and Carolyn see time and time again on the faces of the people who leave their classes. ➤ How to extend your post meditation feel-good vibes long after class has ended.
