Live on November 10, 2015 Transforming public education in the 21st century begins with school leadership and culminates with a growth mindset that elevates teaching and learning in student-centered classrooms. In this episode, school leaders discuss the Future Ready Schools initiative that was launched by The Alliance for Excellent Education , a Washington, DC-based national policy and advocacy organization in cooperation with the US Department of Education. Guests: Jimmy Casas is in his 21st year of administrative leadership, including the last 13 years as Principal at Bettendorf High School. He is passionate about kids, serving others, and cultivating school cultures that focus on excellence for all students & staff. Jimmy was named the 2012 Iowa Secondary Principal of the Year and was selected as one of three finalists for NASSP 2013 National Secondary Principal of the Year. Jimmy is the Co-Founder & Co-Moderator of , moderating the on-line discussion chat every Sunday at 8:00 a.m. & p.m. CST. Finally, he recently co-authored a book with Todd Whitaker and Jeff Zoul entitled, "What Connected Educators Do Differently." Thomas C. Murray serves as the state and district digital learning director for the Alliance for Excellent Education located in Washington, DC. He has testified before the United States Congress and works alongside that body and the US Senate, the US Department of Education and state departments of education, corporations, and school districts throughout the country to implement digital learning while helping to lead Future Ready Schools and Digital Learning Day. Murray was recently named the "Education Policy Person of the Year" by the Academy of Arts and Sciences at the 2015 Bammy Awards. Scott Rocco is a Superintendent in a suburban school district in New Jersey, adjunct professor at The College of New Jersey, instructor in the NJEXCEL program, presenter, co-founder/co-moderator of and on Twitter. Scott presents on the use of social media for educators, school safety, marketing yourself, and various leadership topics. He is dedicated to positively and productively engaging educators in a dialogue that improves student learning, enhances instruction, and creates effective learning environments for all who attend and work in schools.
