Guests: Harvey Alvy served as a practicing principal for 14 years in both elementary and secondary schools. Harvey's international experiences included the American School in Kinshasa, Zaire, the American International School in Israel, the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India, and Singapore American School. He was selected as a NAESP National Distinguished Principal for American Overseas Schools, and is a founding member of the Principals' Training Center for International Schools. In 2004 Harvey received the Eastern Washington University (EWU) Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching Excellence. He has co-authored, with Pam Robbins, Learning From Lincoln: Leadership Practices for School Success (ASCD), The Principal's Companion (4th Ed, Corwin Press), The New Principal's Fieldbook: Strategies for Success (ASCD), and If I Only Knew: Success Strategies for Navigating the Principalship (Corwin Press). With Dr. Jane Liu, Harvey co-authored a Mandarin only book for Chinese school principals, The Principal Management Handbook: The American Principal's Approach to Successful Administration. He has conducted presentations, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of principalship topics, especially related to new principals, and on the leadership of Abraham Lincoln. Harvey is Professor Emeritus at EWU where he held the William C. Shreeve Endowed Professorship in Educational Leadership. Dan Forbes is an Leadership and Executive Coach who is in the possibility business, helping clients create the future they really want both personally and professionally. He is a Certified Executive Coach by the Center for Executive Coaching and the International Coaching Federation (ICF). He is founder of the Community on Social Media and the Tweetchat. Before Coaching, Dan was a Minister/Counselor, a Real Estate Brokerage owner, and a Financial Advisor at a Fortune 15 Company. He is uniquely suited to work with leaders, business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs. He holds a Master of Divinity degree and lives in Austin, Texas. Marceta Reilly is a leadership coach who believes the "coach approach" to leadership is a vital skill for 21st century leaders. Her passion is developing leaders and organizational cultures that inspire the human spirit. She is a co-author of two books about coaching conversations and helps individuals and teams get clearer about what they want, more confident about how they "show up" in their work, and develop collaborative working relationships. Most of Marceta's career has been in public education as a teacher, principal, and school superintendent. After 34 years at the K-12 level, she became a faculty member and researcher at the University of Kansas, and a founding member of the nonprofit, Coaching For Results,Inc. She has been coaching since 2001 and now has her own company, Reilly & Associates, in which she helps people get the results they want. Marceta has a PhD in educational administration, received coach training from Breakthrough Enterprises, and earned Professional Certified Coach (PCC) certification from the International Coach Federation in 2007.
