In this episode, we speak to Michael Phillips. He's a world barista champion, was a co-founder of Handsome Coffee in LA, and is now the Director of Training at Blue Bottle Coffee. Michael is incredibly busy, travelling around the US and over to Japan, and so I was very lucky to grab some time with him. I think his current role, and company's approach to hiring, gives him some extremely important insights. We talk about a lot of things: The outcome of hiring your friends, his issues with coffee academia, the importance of development tracks and what exactly is all my fault...
