Last few episodes, we have discussed women in Bachchan's life and in this connection, we spoke ‘Champa’, his friend Karkal's wife, ‘Shyama’, poet's first wife who came into his life like ‘Joy’, and ‘Iris’ which remained a mirage for the poet. These were the days when Champa and then Shyama's death and one tragedy after another had left him so traumatized. In such a situation, an incident at his poetry-meet in Bareilly shook the poet to the core - the suicide of a lover of his poetry! This episode also talks about an english poet A.E. Houseman. इन दिनों हम बात कर रहे हैं बच्चन बाबू के जीवन में आने वाली स्त्रियों की और इसी सिलसिले में बात की थी उनके मित्र कर्कल की पत्नी चम्पा की, कविराज की पहली पत्नी श्यामा जो उनके जीवन में जॉय की तरह आई, और बात की थी आइरिस की जो कवि के लिए एक मृगतृष्णा ही बनी रही। ये वो दिन थे जब चम्पा और उसके बाद श्यामा की मृत्यु और एक के बाद एक दुखद घटनाओं से इतना क्षत विक्षत हो चुके थे कि स्वयं को एक भग्न हो चुका खंडहर समझने लगे थे। ऐसे में बरेली की कवि गोष्ठी में एक ऐसी घटना घटती है, जिसने कविराज को भीतर तक झकझोर दिया - उनकी कविता के एक प्रेमी की आत्महत्या! Poems in this episode: कुछ टूटे सपनों की बस्ती - मिटने वाली यह भी हस्ती अवसाद बसा जिस खंडहर में, क्या उसमें ही उन्माद रहा जीवन में शेष विषाद रहा जीवन में थे सुख के दिन भी - जीवन में थे दुख के दिन भी पर, हाय हुआ ऐसा कैसे, सुख भूल गया, दुख याद रहा जीवन में शेष विषाद रहा ------------- दो दौर न चलने पाए थे - इस तृष्णा के आँगन में, डूबा मदिरालय सारा - मतवालों के क्रन्दन में; यमदूत द्वार पर तब आया - ले चलने का परवाना, गिर-गिर टूटे घट-प्याले - बुझ दीप गए सब क्षण में, सब चले किए सिर नीचे - ले अरमानों की झोली; गूँजी मदिरालय भर में - लो, ‘चलो, चलो’ की बोली! ------------- कुचल हसरतें कितनी अपनी, हाय, बना पाया हाला, कितने अरमानों को करके ख़ाक बना पाया प्याला! पी पीनेवाले चल देंगे, हाय, न कोई जानेगा कितने मन के महल ढहे तब खड़ी हुई यह मधुशाला!।१३३। मेरी हाला में सबने पाई अपनी-अपनी हाला, मेरे प्याले में सबने पाया अपना-अपना प्याला, मेरे साकी में सबने अपना प्यारा साकी देखा, जिसकी जैसी रुचि थी उसने वैसी देखी मधुशाला ।।१३१। ------------- वह पट ले आई, बोली, देखो एक तरफ़ जीवन ऊषा की लाल किरण, बहता पानी उगता तरुवर, खर चोंच दबा उड़ता पंछी छूता अंबर को धरती का अंचल पानी दूसरी तरफ़ है मृत्यु मरुस्थल की संध्या में राख धुएं में धंसा हुआ कंकाल पड़ा मैंने जीवन देखा, जीवन का गान किया ------------ वह हाला, कर शांत सके जो मेरे अंतर की ज्वाला, जिसमें मैं बिंबित-प्रतिबिंबत, प्रतिपल, वह मेरा प्याला, मधुशाला वह नहीं जहाँ पर मदिरा बेची जाती है, भेंट जहाँ मस्ती की मिलती, मेरी तो वह मधुशाला ।।१२१। -------------------- Thanks for listening :-) Do write a review and send your comments.
