39. Bachchan’s Madhushala: Keats, Shelley - living on own terms / मधुशाला का शान्ति पाठ

In the previous episode, we spoke about stages of life after youth, especially the final mile. There was one story about the death of Dr Bachchan’s first wife “Shyama”. In this episode, we are talking about Pandey Bechan Sharma ‘Ugra’, and English poets John Keats and PB Shelley. पिछले अंक में बात की थी जीवन में यौवन से आगे की अवस्थाओं पर, अंतिम पड़ाव पर, और एक बात बच्चन बाबू की पहली पत्नी श्यामा की मृत्यु के बाद के दिनों से। आज उसी सिलसिले को आगे बढ़ाते हैं, बात एक फक्कड़ कवि की, अंग्रेज़ी कवि जॉन कीट्स और शैली की, और शुरुआत करते हैं एक किस्से से. Previous episode: और चिता पर जाये उंढेला पात्र न घ्रित का, पर प्याला - घंट बंधे अंगूर लता में मध्य न जल हो, पर हाला, प्राण प्रिये यदि श्राद्ध करो तुम मेरा तो ऐसे करना - पीने वालों को बुलवा कर खुलवा देना मधुशाला ।।८४। मेरे शव पर वह रोये, हो जिसके आंसू में हाला - आह भरे वो, जो हो सुरभित मदिरा पी कर मतवाला, दे मुझको वो कांधा जिनके पग मद डगमग होते हों - और जलूं उस ठौर जहां पर कभी रही हो मधुशाला ।।८३। यम ले चलता है मुझको तो, चलने दे लेकर हाला - चलने दे साकी को मेरे साथ लिए कर में प्याला, स्वर्ग, नरक या जहाँ कहीं भी तेरा जी हो लेकर चल - ठौर सभी हैं एक तरह के साथ रहे यदि मधुशाला ।।८७। -------------------- Thanks for listening :-) Do write a review and send your comments.
