Blepharoplasties are cosmetic eyelid lifts. This procedure usually removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids and is a great facial rejuvenator. Many people think the surgery is a minor procedure because the satisfaction rate is very high and the complication rate is fairly low. But the truth is that all sorts of issues can occur with eyelid surgery - from visible scars to a pull-down of the lids to the dreaded complication of blindness. Before surgery, I send my patients to an ophthalmologist to determine that their eyes are healthy enough to have surgery. On this show, I bring in expert ophthalmologist Dr. Larry Najarian, who discusses how he helps patients get ready for their eyelid surgery.
