Child Abuse is a serious, often unspoken topic. It is something that impacts a lot of peoples lives. Aleesha Barlow was sexually abused by her maternal grandfather for years, with her earliest memory being at 6 years old. When she first told her aunt and mom about her grandfather, both of them covered it up and told Aleesha she had to keep it a secret. For years, the secret would eat Aleesha up inside and caused her to spiral out of control. Until one day she got the courage to tell somebody. P Signs of child abuse according to mayoclinic.org: Withdrawal from friends or usual activities Changes in behavior — such as aggression, anger, hostility or hyperactivity — or changes in school performance Depression, anxiety or unusual fears, or a sudden loss of self-confidence An apparent lack of supervision Frequent absences from school Reluctance to leave school activities, as if he or she doesn't want to go home Attempts at running away Rebellious or defiant behavior Self-harm or attempts at suicide
