On this episode of They Walk Among America … On the evening of July 24th, 2000, Sarasota police officers were dispatched to a house on Grand Cayman Street following a 911 call from a local resident who said a young man had told him he believed his aunt had been killed. After forcing their way into the property, they found a woman lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, beaten to death. It didn’t take long for the victim to be identified, and it took even less time for the media to pick up the story. 52-year-old Nancy Campbell-Panitz had appeared on national television just hours before she was found dead.
