Homerpalooza: A History

Welcome to the VICE Magazine Podcast, your definitive guide to enlightening information. Our monthly podcast is now a weekly podcast. We kicked off our new format last week with a discussion on race and toxic masculinity, and this time around, we have a lighter (and much) beloved topic: The Simpsons. Noisey, VICE’s music site, recently ran a theme week on the intersection of music and TV. It covered everything from Chapelle’s Show to Beavis and Butt-Head and even managed to work in an article on Law & Order’s “dun dun” sound. For the theme week, Dan Ozzi, an editor at Noisey, co-wrote a feature with Alex Robert Ross about the iconic 1996 episode of The Simpsons, “Homerpalooza,” which had tons of rock stars, like the Smashing Pumpkins and Peter Frampton, playing themselves.
