Despite these challenges, asset owners also say they remain committed to sustainability and are putting more resources towards their ESG strategies. Finally, the start of 2024 brings new sustainability-focused regulations. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) came into effect in the European Union on Jan. 1 and will apply to nearly 60,000 companies globally. The directive could be a watershed moment for corporate reporting as well as investors seeking more sustainability data from issuers.
