The Longford Lecture is a centrepiece event of the criminal justice sector's year. Run by the Longford Trust, a charity that provides opportunities for study and mentoring for people in prison and detention, it takes place at Church House in Westminster. This year's lecture was a call for the abolition of the imprisonment of children, given by the Children's Commissioner Dame Rachel De Souza , who talked about the shocking links between children who have spent time in care and the justice system. Also on the podcast, Angus Stobie , who plays George Grundy in The Archers, and Jeremy Howe , the series Editor. The BBC Radio 4 drama has been running for 75 years and this year received the Kevin Packenham Prize to acknowledge its portrayal of George's brush with the law and his imprisonment.
