Questions About This Episode

What is Sake Onederful talks Music, Nick Cannon, Social Change, White Privilege, Standing Up to Evil & Hate about?

SF Native & Veteran DJ Sake One pulls no punches. He's also not plugging anything or selling his latest live set, although he has done plenty-including fundraising for Covid Displaced/Essential Workers. He's an open book that isn't shy about discussing whatever subject comes up. I do feel bad as we are.both passionately talking current events,.protests, Covid19, riots, Nick Cannon, Trump, Racism...getting carried away we didn't devote nearly enough time to his love of music, the residencies he has held down for 5, 10, 20 years in some cases. We did get to talk about our favorite white Hip Hop Group: 3rd Bass. you thought we would say Beastie Boys? Sake is also very humble with the Outkast tribute night he's held for years, Tha Art of Storytelling that has blossomed into a whole movement, doing it across the country and even in the ATL, right in their backyard. One show he is particularly proud of, which again we ran out of time before discussing is Ooh They Mad, a roundtable discussion about current events and issues affecting Black & Brown folks striving for social justice, the end of police brutally & racial equality. Find him with co-hosts Chris Riggens, Paris Warr/Computer Blu every Sunday at 9pm on KPFA, 94.1 in the SF Bay Area. OTM is anchored by three Bay Area natives: Chris Riggins, a professional comedian; Paris Warr aka Computr Blu, a sex educator and cultural worker; and DJ Sake One, a professional DJ. The show incorporates analysis of current events and trends, both local and national, using humor and popular culture to deepen and broaden appeal. The show’s ultimate goal is to transform how our listeners interpret and understand the world, while infusing humor and culture into current pop culture and political discourse. KPFA IS ALSO HEARD ON KPFB 89.3 FM IN BERKELEY, KFCF 88.1 FM IN FRESNO, K248BR 97.5 FM IN SANTA CRUZ, AND KU SATELLITE INTERGALACTICALLY.
