WPH #580: When Will Rampage Poker STOP???

It has become a common occurrence to see Rampage Poker, the world famous poker vlogger, punt off his stack in both tournaments and cash games over the past few years. In this hand, during a cash game session at Resorts World Las Vegas, he finds himself playing the board by the river against one of his vlog viewers, who goes by the name Chris. Will Rampage check and accept that the money he already put in the pot is gone, or will he attempt to bluff Chris off his overpair? When your opponent double barrels on a turn card that is better for their range than it is for yours, it is often the moment in the poker hand when you must fold your marginal holdings. This is also true because even if you improve on the river with two pair or trips, you may have already been far behind on the turn and are now forced to call a river bet. That is why it is crucial to recognize which turn cards favor your opponent’s range more than yours, and adjust your poker strategy accordingly when they continue betting on those cards. Ethan Yau, a.k.a Rampage, is a popular YouTuber and poker player. He has over 340,000 subscribers on YouTube and has won over $3,000,000 in tournament earnings, including a $900,000 win in a 2022 World Poker Tour (WPT) High Roller at the Wynn. Since 2021, Rampage has played on over 84 live streamed cash games and has won over $1,000,000. Rampage calls with his nickels and backdoor straight draw. Turn – Qd: The Q of diamonds turn introduces a backdoor flush draw. Rampage checks for a second time and Chris double barrels for $250 with his overpair to the board. Rampage calls again, perhaps thinking Chris is running a bluff. River – 9c: The double board pairing river leaves Rampage playing the board as his two pair has been counterfeited. So, Rampage tries to represent a full house by leading out for a near pot sized bet of $800.
