After consulting in sexual and reproductive health in Central America for several years she founded Luna Maya Birth Center in Chiapas, Mexico where she worked for 13 years. In 2014 she moved to Mexico City where she opened Luna Maya in Mexico City. She currently serves as president of the Mexican Midwifery Association . She continues to mentor midwifery students while advocating for the midwives model of care in Mexico.
