EDM Foundations → This week, Jafunk sat down to chat for the EDM Prodcast. Lachlan AKA Jafunk is a producer/DJ from Perth, now based in Berlin. He incorporates elements of funk and soul into a house-esque context, and came up via the earlier days of YouTube via channels like Majestic Casual, TheSoundYouNeed, and more. These days, Jafunk is a successful producer in his own right with a slew of funky releases under his belt. In this interview, we dive into a plethora of topics, from his latest release Weekend Love, to his Splice sample packs, and to remix competitions. We also cover his journey with learning traditional instruments and how that has helped him learn the type of music he wants to make. Although he tried getting by with just Ableton for a long time, using real instruments helped him achieve the funky sound he was going for.
