Greetings and welcome to the latest episode of the The Absolutely Awesome Podcast, in which I was delighted to be joined by the awesome singer and multi-instrumentalist Rhiannon Giddens. You might not know the name, but you soon will... Rhiannon is a fantastic musician, one of the founder members of the Grammy-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, and has worked with some of the biggest names in the business in the last little while, including Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Jim James and T Bone Burnett. She is set to release her first solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn, on February 6 in Ireland and February 10 worldwide, which features Rhiannon's interpretations of some classic songs made famous by the likes of Nina Simone, Patsy Cline and Odetta. It was a great chat, in spite of the best efforts of the universe to spoil it as a door was being sanded in the venue we were recording in part of the way thru... If you can ignore that, and I've done my best to clean the recording up, you'll really enjoy this episode.
