Rusty was born with two congenital heart defects, transposition of the great arteries and a ventricular septal defect, and has received care at Texas Children's Hospital for most of his life. As an adult, he now receives care from specialists in the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program, which enables patients with congenital heart disease to receive seamless continuation of care from birth throughout adulthood.
