He arised on our bookshelves with Blankets , the story of a young American from a religious and traditional background, who combines drawing and romantic discovery. He followed up with Carnet de voyage , where he traveled across France to meet its cartoonists. Now Craig Thompson goes into his autobiographical way again with Ginseng Roots , a return to the places of childhood: this Wisconsin of the early years, where Thompson helped harvest Ginseng (for a few dollars immediately reinvested in the comics). A family story as much as a geopolitical one, its documentary aspect immerses us in a traditionally progressive state which began to vote for Trump in 2016. Without judgment, Thompson returns there, pencil in hand. Il existe une version de cet entretien en français ici.
