Bridge to the Alamo

When The Bridge Outreach permanently closed its doors on June 30, 2016, New Life Evangelistic Center became the only emergency homeless shelter in downtown Saint Louis. Our story is about a standstill between this one shelter and the downtown residents/city officials who petitioned and voted to restrict New Life's capacity. If New Life loses this case, downtown Saint Louis will become one big geographic hole in homeless services while north Saint Louis becomes the new hub. This story was produced over a 5-week period by Nicholas Borella, Serxhio Hoxha, Lauren Kersey, and Amelie Rode in partnership with Nathaniel Rivers's New Media Writing course.
