Life as a DFDS Trainee :: Adapting (2)

Two countries, two different jobs, two different areas – shipping and logistics – it all takes a lot of personal strength and fortitude to adapt. We talked to some of our graduate trainees about how they handle it. DFDS Trainees are young graduates that embark on a two-year journey at two different locations in our network, spending one year in Shipping and one year in Logistics. Trainees learn by doing and have real clients and projects with real potential to impact the business. They gain a wide network in Northern Europe, both inside DFDS and outside. In addition to hands-on training, they attend the Danish Shipping Academy, a part of Danish Shipping. In this four-part miniseries, we look into what it's really like to be a trainee – from the job itself to adapting to life in a different country, far from home to the funny side of cultural differences and then in the final episode, we speak to three former trainees who made the transition to employee.
