This Woman's Work

In this episode of Radio Art Center, the Des Moines Art Center's Director of Marketing and PR Christine Crawford sits down with Curator Laura Burkhalter to discuss the exhibition, This Woman's Work . This exhibition explores images of women working through prints from various decades and centuries. Consideration of the artist's viewpoint will be critical in the presentation these works, particularly in highlighting the different ways male and female artists portray their subjects and their actions. Domestic work is featured in many of these images, presented in manners from celebratory to fetishistic. The depiction of the female body, particularly in regards to modelling and sex work, will also be explored.
