Episode 029 - First Baby Conceived Naturally at 45 Years Old After Several Failed IVF Transfers and Miscarriages w/ Katie

Being proactive about freezing her eggs “before it was too late” in her 30’s, Katie thought this was the responsible thing to do after her recent divorce until Mr. Right came along. A few years later, Katie met her husband at 41 years old and when they married they immediately transferred Katie’s eggs, but it unsuccessful by all accounts. As a result, the couple was told that Katie had a less than 1% chance of conceiving with her own eggs and was advised to use an egg donor. Believing what the doctors were telling her, Katie began the egg donor search, but wasn’t comfortable with the whole process and wanted to try IVF before using donor eggs. After years of multiple pregnancies, Katie experienced several miscarriages and was devastated. Giving up hope of conceiving with her own eggs, Katie finally convinced herself to go the egg donor route if her upcoming IVF transfer was unsuccessful and started taking hormone injections again, and then she found out that she conceived naturally. However, instead of being excited, Katie was terrified of losing her baby throughout her entire pregnancy due to having several previous miscarriages.
