Claire Fiddian-Green of Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation on Tackling A National Crisis

Claire Fiddian-Green is president and CEO of the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1986 by Richard M. ("Dick") Fairbanks to strengthen the city of Indianapolis and perpetuate the Fairbanks legacy in the city where his family prospered for over a century. He was the President of the Foundation until his death in August 2000. The mission of the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation is to advance the vitality of Indianapolis and the well-being of its people. The Foundation achieves this mission by focusing on three issue-areas: education, tobacco and opioid addiction, and the life sciences. Today, Ms. Fiddian-Green joins the Philanthropy Hour to discuss what the Foundation is doing to stem the tide of the opioid crisis in the Indianapolis community, and the role that a philanthropic Foundation plays in dealing with a national epidemic such as this one.
