Questions About This Episode

What is Angela Cain about?

Guest Bio Angela Cain is an Emmy award-winning former television news broadcaster and a strategic communications, media relations and public relations professional. She most recently served as the Director of Public Affairs for the Indianapolis Airport Authority overseeing public relations, media relations, internal and external communications and marketing, social media strategy, crisis communications, community event planning and Guest Services. But she spent most of her career as a Television News Broadcaster who has written and produced thousands of stories, with stints that include work as a Top-Ten Television Market News Anchor and Health Reporter at KXAS-TV, an NBC affiliate in Dallas, and Community Affairs Director at WTHR-TV, an NBC affiliate in Indianapolis. Angela has led dozens of community service and media campaigns, including "Shattering the Silence," a campaign that she created to bring awareness to the problem of domestic abuse, teen dating abuse and child abuse. In this campaign, Angela produced and wrote news series, PSA's, Television Specials and developed community action initiatives that led many abuse victims to resources for help, increasing calls to domestic abuse hotlines as much as 50 – 75%. Angela's Community Affairs reporting has won a National award from the American Women in Radio and Television; four Regional Emmys; and more than a dozen State Broadcasting Awards for community campaigns, news series, and television specials with great impact. Angela was also the first Broadcaster to receive the national Hopeline award, from Verizon Wireless, for shattering the silence on abuse. Angela has won countless community awards, as well, for her personal involvement in community initiatives, including serving as a Keynote Speaker and emcee for dozens of community agency and business events year-round. Those honors include the Lt. Governor's Girl Scout Luncheon Award for Making the World a Better Place ; the first-ever Empowerment Award , for empowering abuse victims to seek help, from the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence; the Salute to Women of Achievement Award from the YWCA of Central Indiana; the CLD (Center for Leadership Development) Mass Media award for journalism and community service; and the Trailblazer Award for journalism from the Indiana Black Expo. Angela also helped raise a few million dollars, leading various fundraisers for non-profits. At heart, Angela is a storyteller, with highlights including writing, hosting and producing Prime Time Television specials at WTHR-TV, and a 30-part series on cancer, to help launch a new newscast, as a Health Reporter at KXAS-TV in Dallas. Through reporting, Angela has learned that we are more alike than we are different and that we want to live a life where we can focus on what matters most. She has the skills to produce videos, press releases, marketing material and social media content to share the stories of what matters most to businesses, non-profits and organizations. Angela believes, when you focus on what matters most to you and your audience, that is the best way to make emotional connections with clients, customers and the community. If people know you care, they will care about you. That impacts revenue and image.
