Host: Darryl S. Chutka, M.D. Guest: Stephen Ansell, M.D., Ph.D. Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a group of hematologic malignancies originating in the lymphatic system. There are over 60 subtypes of lymphoma with varying degrees of aggressiveness. It can present with a variety of rather subtle symptoms, often making the diagnosis challenging. Although Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is typically managed by a hematologist or oncologist, the primary care provider plays a role in its recognition, preliminary diagnostic tests and supporting patients through their treatment. What are some of the more common symptoms and signs of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma? Which ones should prompt an urgent referral, and what preliminary tests should we do prior to referring the patient? These are some of the questions I’ll be asking my guest, Dr. Stephen Ansell, Chair of the Division of Hematology at the Mayo Clinic. The topic for this podcast is Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
