Questions About This Episode

What is Murray Street about?

<3 Murray Street is the 12th studio album by American alternative rock band Sonic Youth. It was released on June 25, 2002 by record label DGC. Murray Street is the first album by the band to feature Jim O’Rourke as an official fifth member to bolster the group’s sound. Sonic Youth was an American rock band based in New York City, formed in 1981. Founding members Thurston Moore (guitar, vocals), Kim Gordon (bass guitar, vocals, guitar) and Lee Ranaldo (guitar, vocals) remained together for the entire history of the band, while Steve Shelley (drums) followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, and rounded out the core line-up. Sonic Youth emerged from the experimental no wave art and music scene in New York before evolving into a more conventional rock band and becoming the most prominent of the American noise rock groups. Sonic Youth have been praised for having “redefined what rock guitar could do”, using a wide variety of unorthodox guitar tunings and preparing guitars with objects like drum sticks and screwdrivers to alter the instruments’ timbre. The band is considered to be a pivotal influence on the alternative and indie rock movements. <3 Ep 38 00:03:06 – Sonic Youth – The Empty Page 00:09:04 – Sonic Youth – Disconnection Notice 00:16:46 – Sonic Youth – Rain On Tin 00:25:33 – Sonic Youth – Karen Revisited 00:38:24 – Sonic Youth – Radical Adults Lick Godhead Style 00:50:34 – Sonic Youth – Sympathy for the Strawberry Transitional Audio Clips Of Human Bondage (1934) – Bette Davis – YouTube Bette Davis, Ingratitude and Hollywood – YouTube Judy Garland Interview – Defends Her Audience – YouTube The post Murray Street appeared first on Magic Portals .
