Episode ; Karma Yoga Chapter -4 What is Duty from the complete Works of Swami Vivekananda Swami Vivekananda was a wandering Hindu monk who was the most prominent disciple of Ramakrishna, a well known 19th century saint. Vivekananda is remembered as one of the key people who introduced Indian philosophies such as Vedanta and Yoga to the West. He is also responsible for awakening Hinduism in India, while also assisting the idea of Nationalism in British India. Swami Vivekananda has also established the Ramakrishna Mission and the Ramakrishna Math. In the eight volumes of the works of the Swami Vivekananda which are to compose the present edition, we have what is not only a gospel to the world at large, but also to its own children, the Charter of the Hindu Faith. What Hinduism needed, amidst the general disintegration of the modern era, was a rock where she could lie at anchor, an authoritative utterance in which she might recognise her self.
