Dopo il successo della trilogia di Mad Max, George Miller continua a parlare di potere. Nel 1987 esce nelle sale Le Streghe di Eastwick, all'interno della pellicola il regista australiano sfrutta il linguaggio filmico per raccontare le dinamiche di potere nelle relazioni tra uomini e donne. Miller trasforma l'opera letteraria di John Updike una commedia grottesca dove gli eccessi portano in scena una racconto di desiderio e ribellione.
