Lord Nityananda is Lord Balarama Himself, the direct expansion of Krishna. He descended on Earth some 500 years ago, along with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, to spread the Sankirtana movement of love of God through the congregational chanting of His names. Celebrated by millions of Gaudiya Vaishnavas, the appearance day of Lord Nityananda is an opportunity to remember the immense compassion the Lord has for all living entities.
