Hello Dalí!: Part 1

Welcome to Season 2 of Keep It Lit: Judging Genius. In this episode we're changing things up! While Season 1 focused on the art, in particular the art of storytelling, Season 2 will focus in the artists themselves. Rather than limiting ourselves to just the literary realm, we will explore the iconic figures of art, theater, philosophy, and music as well. Each episode will judge a creative genius in the context of her/his own era in history as well as by our own 21st century perspective. We will discuss if we should separate our feelings about an artist from our feelings about the art, and we will ask if it is appropriate to judge our historical figures by our modern norms. We're starting strong with possibly one of the most eccentric and problematic figures from the art world, the Surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. No need to have a deep knowledge of art history to enjoy the pod; we certainly don't have such expertise! No matter your familiarity with Dalí, you're sure to have fun listening to this absolutely bizarre biography!
