In the premier episode of Indy Unscripted, De and Emily are giving you a look at why they love Indy and reasons you should too. Having grown up Hoosiers, they love to find new places in Indiana to explore and want to take you along for the ride. In the premier episode, they talk about how they met (studying and drinking their way through Europe), what they each like about Indy, and why patios are the key to Emily's heart. Emily and De love the culture that the different boroughs of Indy offer. Artsy, funky, welcoming, surprising. Indianapolis offers way more than just cornfields without the huge city feel of a place like NYC. Mass Ave, Broadripple, and even up to the walkable downtown areas of Carmel and Zionsville are some of their favorites. Beyond the tenderloin, Indianapolis boasts fun food like at the newly reopened Twenty Tap (Emily's top spot), which has craft beer, an awesome bar scene, burgers and more funky food, and the ever sought after patio. Bakersfield comes in as De's top spot with fresh California tacos like the Pork Belly Pastor and fantastic margaritas. Emily loves their patio, obviously. The Monon Trail , which spans from Sheridan, Indiana all the way to Mass Ave draws tons of people in nicer weather -- including rollerbladers (De), run/walkers (Emily), and men with snakes around their necks... but usually just dogs and their owners. Speaking of dogs, Metazoa Brewing Company is a brewery that allows pets -- and you should be good to go, unless you have a debilitating fear of bunny rabbits. Bring your pet and drink some good beer for a cause, 5% of the proceeds go to animal and wildlife organizations. Oh, and don't worry, they have a patio. A couple of places De and Emily have yet to visit, but would love to try are The Rathskeller and Nine Lives Cat Cafe . The Rathskellar has live music, beer, and good food ( patio included). Nine Lives Cat Cafe has a special room where you can drink your coffee while you play with their cats. It is a $5 entrance fee to the Cat Lounge (reservations are suggested), but it all goes towards providing food and shelter for the cats. If you really start to love one, you can start the adoption process, which goes through the Humane Society. Or you can go to a place like Heaven After Hell Rescue and walk out with a cat on the same day! All in all, Indy is a great city with tons of great food, activities, and places to be explored. Join Emily and De as they find out all the city, and the state, have to offer. Links Twenty Tap -- A newly reopened South Broadripple restaurant with craft beer and great food. Bakersfield -- California tacos and delicious margaritas -- right on Mass Ave. The Monon Trail -- A walkable trail that spans from Sheridan, IN to Mass Ave in downtown Indianapolis. Metazoa Brewing Company -- A pet friendly brewery that donates 5% of its proceeds to animal and wildlife organizations. The Rathskeller -- A restaurant and event space with live music, good beer, and great food. Nine Lives Cat Cafe -- A cafe that offers coffee, sweets, and cat time! (Reservations suggested). Heaven After Hell Rescue -- A rescue and adoption center for unwanted or abused cats and dogs.
