A desert season can be defined as a fairly intense season marked by spiritual dryness, is fairly isolated in occurrence, and where the presence of the Lord feels distant. In many regards the desert season is all about the heart, for the Lord to use to reveal, restore, and release the heart. There are often lengthy seasons of preparation in the desert for God's people. God took me to the desert where I could not provide for myself and said, "Now I am going to take over feeding you." There is nothing so ugly or painful or hard that the Lord does not want to encounter us right there. I was turning my friendships into a fishing line rather than a net. If you know God is leading you to heart work, do your best to make space for it to happen. Journaling is a great way to build a memorial for what God is doing. God speaks most in the middle of solitude rather than in the midst of a multitude. God is the God of resurrection and restoration.
