Women's History Month is celebrating veterans and active-duty military who keep us and have kept us out of constant harm’s way, often at great costs. Women’s History Month is a powerful opportunity to honor the remarkable contributions of both veterans and active-duty military personnel. These courageous individuals have dedicated their lives to safeguarding our freedoms, often at great personal sacrifice. As we reflect on this, we also recognize that this year marks the 102nd anniversary of the end of World War I, a poignant reminder that war has shaped our collective history in profound ways. My mission is to share a rich tapestry of war stories that encompass diverse experiences, spanning age, gender, and race, while also illuminating the lasting impact on families and cultural legacies. Countless vibrant and untold stories exist from this era. Today, we will focus on "herstory." Prepare to hear from the remarkable women who chose to forge their own paths in history. "The Voices of Women in Vietnam" is a remarkable replay of the National Public Radio show "With Good Reason." From the moment I first listened to this poignant program, I was deeply moved, and I felt compelled to share it with others. It features the authentic voices of wives, widows, nurses, and librarians—extraordinary women who set aside their traditional roles to confront societal challenges and fight for a more equitable future for all. Their struggles and triumphs are the foundation of the ongoing fight for gender equality The Vietnam War was my defining conflict, a period that immersed me in turmoil and uncertainty. I struggled to comprehend the complex issues surrounding U.S. involvement while mourning the loss of school friends who paid the ultimate price for freedom. So, brew a cup of tea, settle in, and click the link below. This show is dedicated to all women and to your children and grandchildren as a testament to their resilience and strength. Thank you for your service, both then and now. Your sacrifices have paved the way for future generations.
