His research focuses on academic motivation, and he has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and invited chapters on this topic, as well as several books. He is a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association, and his research has been featured in numerous media outlets, including CBS News, Dateline NBC, CNN, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, and numerous others. Steve Martinez is a former Social Science teacher from California where he had a fervor for the Flipped Classroom model and Project-based Learning.
