46: Group H: Ghana 0-2 Uruguay

Uruguay knew they needed to score one more than Korea Republic if the day ended with them winning their matches. Leading 2-0 with just minutes remaining, Uruguay were advancing into the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup as Korea Republic were locked in a 1-1 draw with Portugal. But when Korea struck late on to claim a 2-1 victory, it was for Uruguay to get another goal, but it eluded them and they crashed out. This was a game with plenty of spice after Uruguay had knocked Ghana out on penalties in 2010. And just as penalties proved a talking point then, so they did here as Andre Ayew missed a spot kick with the scores level at 0-0. Uruguay took control from that point, but their victory still wasn't enough to advance from Group H.
