On the outskirts of Dhaka, sits the industrial city of Ashulia. Here, many of the residents work for the area's numerous textile factories. The hours are long, the pay is low, and violent clashes over working conditions are not uncommon. Despite the regions economic situation, the people of Ashulia are building a vibrant community for themselves. Shopkeepers peddle fresh vegetables. Laborers build new housing for the steady stream of migrants. Families struggle to make ends meet. And schools are formed in the hope that this generation will be among the last to live in poverty.
