In his unflinching memoir of politics and the history of the state of Alabama as well as its academic institutions, political leaders, and religous groups Dr. Flynt not only examines the ways in which these entities have fallen short but the future opportunities and challenges in which they can overcome the past. Through the lens of his own experience as an noted professor and historian at both Samford and Auburn Universities, memories of his travels through Alabama, and his life in the state Flynt's memior serves as both the voice of conscience and chronicle of a troubled time.
