In this episode, Jay and Charlie discuss high frequency vocabulary and especially the New General Service Wordlist, or NGSL, co-created with Dr. Brent Culligan and Joseph Phillips. The NGSL of core high frequency vocabulary for students of English as a second language is a major update of Michael West’s 1953 General Service List . The NGSL provides over 92% coverage for most general English texts (the highest of any corpus-derived general English word list to date).
